Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche (1966m.) which takes about eight hours. You head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Dhunche. The first part of your drive upto Trishuli Bazaar is quite smooth. The path now moves along the gravel road. During the rainy season, the way is sometime blocked due to landslides. Your drive from Kathamandu to the destination is to be made by either local bus or land cruiser.
Day 02: Trek from Dhunche to Syabru Gaon (2581m.) which takes about five and half hours. Trek to Syabru Gaon (6950ft, 2120m). The trek today is very leisurely through forests and terraced hill slopes. As you enter Syabru, you descend to the ridgeline that separates the Langtang Khola from the Trisuli River. Syabru is a beautiful village stretched out along the ridgeline. You will continue through the village to your campsite about fifteen minutes beyond on the slopes below the village. The sunset is spectacular; brilliantly backlighting the houses perched on the ridgeline above. From here you can enjoy spectacular view of Lantang Lirung (7245m.), Tibetan Himal ranges and so on.
Day 03: Trek from Thulo Syabru to Sing Gompa or Chandan Bari (3250m.) and it takes about four and half hours. The trails from Thulo Syabru to Foprang Danda (3200m.) follows steeply ascent path passing through Dursagang (2660m.) along with the view of Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Tibetan Mountain and oak, Hemlock, firs forests. Now the path gently ascends for some distance and then follows flat level to Sing Gompa. There is a well-managed local cheese factory and a Buddhist Monastery. If time permits, you can relax at place which is recommended for having excursion in and around Sing Gompa. It provides panoramic views, exhilarating nature and a walk in and around Yak Cheese factory. The cheese manufactured here is considered the best in Nepal.
Day 04: Trek from Sing Gompa to Gosaikunda (4361m.) via Lauribinayak La (3920m.) which takes about five and half hours. The first part of the trails emerges gently ascent up to Lauribinayak and the top of Lauribinayak gives you an exotic feeling. Then the trails steeply ascend all the way to Gosaikunda.You follow a rugged trail with dramatic views; to the west Himal chuli(7893m) Manaslu range (8156mm), Ganesh Himal range(7406m), Tibetan peaks and Langtang Lirung.Thank you very much for the kind concern you and the entire family has been tendering.
On a clear day, even the Annapurna range can be seen rising up behind and to the north across the valley is Langtang Lirung. You pass a few huts in the high pasture of Laurebinayak, cross a small ridge and have your first views of the holy lakes. There are about a dozen lakes in the Gosainkunda Basin, the main three being Saraswatikunda, Bhairabkunda, and Gosainkunda. According to legend, Gosainkunda was created by Shiva when he pierced a glacier with his trident to obtain water to quench his thirst after having swallowed a poison that threatened to destroy the world.
Day 05: Trek from Gosaikunda to Ghopte (3300 m.) and it takes about seven hours.
Leaving Gosaikunda, you trek gently up trail for almost two hours through rugged path. On the way, you can enjoy tremendous views of Annapurna, Manaslu and many other snow capped mountains and peaks. Crossing Lauribinayak pass (4600 m.) you begin to trek downhill enjoying the views of green hills, mountain views and ridges unravel as you walk on trail. After three and half hours trekking, you reach Phedi with some tea houses with minimal supplies. The rocky trail is now ahead to be walked by you with views of green hills. This is full of ups and downs to reach Ghopte. There are tea houses available here.
Day 06: Trek from Ghopte to Kutumsang (2446m.) and it takes about five hours.
Till Tharepati , the trail moves ascending through forest of rhododendron, oak and bamboo with other natural vegetation. From Tharepati the trail gradually descends through pine and rhododendron forest with good views down into the Helambu valley and across to Jugal Himal and Numbur in the Solu Khumbu.
Day 07: Trek from Kutumsang to Chisopani which takes about six hours.
From Kutumsang, you climb to a pass at 2620m, before descending to the Tamang village of Gul Bhanjyang. Beyond Gul Bhanjyang, you trek ascend to a ridge with splendid views, stretching from the Annapurnas and Manaslu in the west to Numbur in the east. Now you descend to Pati Bhanjyang, a large Tamang village with a few shops and a police check post. From here it is almost two hours climb to Chisopani and your camp.
Day 08: Conclude trek at Sundarijal and drive to Kathmandu (1350m.) which takes about seven hours. Leaving Chisopani, the trail passes through meadows and cultivated fields and then climbs through oak and rhododendron forest to Burlang Bhanjyang. From here there are magnificent views, from Annapurna in the west to Ganesh Himal and Numbur in the east. This ridge marks the northern rim of the Kathmandu valley. You now begin descending steeply through dense forest of oak, pine and rhododendron to cross a dam and then follow a large water pipe which supplies much of the water for Kathmandu. Soon you are down into Sundarijal where you pick up transport back to Kathmandu.
